Biografi
David Wasson (Actor/Writer/Director) first came to New York through a Florida State University tryout of the Pre-Broadway musical Halloween, written by Sydney Michaels (Ben Franklin in Paris) and Mitch Leigh (Man of La Mancha), directed by Albert Marre (Man of La Mancha). The production featured Oscar winner Jose Ferrer, Tony Award winner Barbara Cook, and comedian/actor Dick Shawn. Wasson had a featured role and understudied Shawn. Impressed by Wasson's performance, director Marre offered him a role in the first revival of Man of La Mancha at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in Lincoln Center, starring the original cast including Richard Kiley, Joan Diener, and Robert Rounseville. Man of La Mancha and Marre became central to Wasson's career, leading him to perform nearly 1,400 times in the show across Broadway, national tours, and regional productions. He worked alongside legends such as Richard Kiley, John Raitt, John Cullum, Howard Keel, Raul Julia, and Robert Goulet, and assisted Marre in directing twice. His critically acclaimed portrayal of the Padre led to his casting as Drake and understudy for Harve Presnell (Warbucks) in a national company of Annie, eventually assuming the role of Warbucks in the Fourth National Company. Another significant part of Wasson's career was the musical Evita, where he played Juan Peron alongside Broadway stars Loni Ackerman and Derin Altay, touring extensively in the USA and Europe. The musical 42nd Street also became a starring opportunity, working with Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Randy Skinner, assistant to original director Gower Champion, marking a highlight in Wasson's time with the show. Alongside these Broadway musicals, Wasson expanded into plays, television, and film. He appeared in Lillian Hellman's Little Foxes and the world premiere of Murphy Guyer's comedic play A Russian Romance at Cleveland Playhouse. He co-starred in the indie cult film Fallout and featured in numerous soap operas including All My Children, Loving, and As The World Turns. Venturing into prime time, he guest-starred on Will Smith's Fresh Prince and Cybill Shepherd's Cybill. In 2012, Wasson launched a second career as a filmmaker, writing and directing the feature film Do You Think I'm Pretty?, which won the prestigious Accolade Award - Best In Show in a global competition and screened at seven film festivals. His second film as writer/director, Best Served Cold, appeared in two festivals. Recently, he wrote and starred in the film TradeCraft, which has been shown at two festivals, earning one award and a Best Actor nomination for Wasson.
