Alexandra Kahwagi is an Armenian-Lebanese actress based in Los Angeles. Born in Beirut, she began her acting career at just thirteen years old. She quickly gained recognition from pioneers in the film industry, starring in numerous short films by age eighteen. Her feature film debut came with a lead role in "A Perfect Day," directed by Marcel Duchamp Award winners Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige. The film received awards at the Nantes Three Continents Festival, Locarno International Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, and others. After earning a BA in performing arts from L'Institut des Études Sceniques et Audiovisuelles in Beirut, she continued her career by starring in significant Middle Eastern feature films. Many of her roles have been bold and provocative, sparking dialogue within the Middle Eastern artistic community. For instance, her portrayal of Jenny in "Nuts" challenged notions of women's freedom of expression in Arabic cinema. Another daring performance was in the acclaimed Syrian film "Round Trip," which addressed cultural issues and earned her the Muhr Special Mention Award at the Dubai International Film Festival. Her role in the widely praised film "Very Big Shot" brought her international attention due to the film's substantial success. It won numerous awards from prestigious organizations and was Lebanon's submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards. Netflix acquired distribution rights for "A Perfect Day," "Nuts," and "Very Big Shot." Additionally, "El Gran Libano," a short film directed by Mounia Akl featuring Alexandra, opened the Directors’ Fortnight at the 70th Cannes Film Festival. Eager to deepen her craft and broaden her expertise, Alexandra relocated to Los Angeles and enrolled at the renowned Lee Strasberg Theater & Film Institute, where she trained in method acting, Alexander Technique, Fitzmaurice Voicework, improv, and film fight choreography. She is also musically talented, playing both guitar and piano, and is fluent in Arabic, French, and English.
