Sandy has been acting for over 40 years, on stage, screen, & 'TV'. Her mother, was an actress, doing theatre, film, well into her 80's beginning in her 20's in live television. Although a passionate advocate for the unions, Sandy's membership is solely in SAG/AFTRA and although had the opportunity to join Equity, wanted to remain available for quirky new plays in small venues. As a writer, she has been published in New York Times, 'Grace Notes' and was hired by William Hurt to write a screenplay---they collaborated on 'Breath' which has yet to be produced. Her solo performance piece, 'Listening to Lizabeth' is about holding her best friend's hand at her last breaths (Lizabeth McBride). Sandy's daughter, Alice Clendenen, is also in 'the business' as of June 2025, she is an associate producer, for Pixar's beautiful 'Elio'. Sandy's passion as an end of life advocate took shape in an organization she co founded, Humane Prison Hospice Project, her drive to bring awareness to the needs of incarcerated people as well as returned citizens was inspired from a play she was in, in her 20's, "Getting Out" by Marsha Norma. As of June 2025, Sandy is creating a solo performance piece about her first successful visit to a man dying on death row, in San Quentin. For Sandy, acting is proof of the profound connection of all life--and the healing effects of empathy.
