Brent Barry and his brothers Scooter, Jon, and Drew Barry illustrate how talent can run in families. All four sons of basketball legend and Hall of Famer Rick Barry enjoyed notable college careers and consistent success as professionals. Among them, Brent is often considered the most skilled. He played high school basketball at De La Salle Catholic in Concord, California, before attending Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. After redshirting the 1990-1991 season, Brent steadily improved over the next four years, peaking in the 1994-1995 season with averages of 21.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.7 steals per game, shooting 51.4% from the field and 82.3% from the free throw line. He finished his college career with 1,304 points (12.1 per game), 396 rebounds (3.7 per game), 351 assists (3.3 per game), and 199 steals (1.8 per game). Selected 15th overall in the first round of the 1995 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets, his rights were immediately traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. Over eight seasons, Brent has accumulated 5,757 points, 1,979 assists, 1,918 rebounds, 695 steals, and 172 blocks while playing for the Clippers, Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, and Seattle Supersonics. Demonstrating his athleticism, he won the 1996 Slam Dunk Competition during his rookie All-Star Weekend and participated in the All-Star Rookie Game, contributing eight points, four assists, and five steals.
