Biografi
Floyd is an actor, writer, and director recognized as a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit. He has won a British Independent Film Award (BIFA) and received two additional nominations. As an actor, he earned a BIFA, and as a filmmaker, he wrote and directed the romance film *Unicorns*, which was nominated for seven BIFAs and won one. His work has been featured by Variety, The Guardian, Evening Standard, Mr Porter, City AM, and Attitude, among others.
International and US audiences know him for his role as the troubled undercover ex-soldier Nasser in Hulu’s acclaimed drama series *No Man’s Land*, created by Ron Leshem (creator of the original *Euphoria*). The show is available in 114 territories worldwide, with season two premiering in 2025. He also gained global recognition for co-starring in Netflix’s 2023 refugee epic *The Swimmers*, viewed by over 100 million people, reaching No. 1 in 47 countries and Top 10 in 88. The film was BAFTA-nominated for Outstanding British Film. UK viewers recognize him as the enigmatic Gabriel Varma in ITV’s popular drama *The Good Karma Hospital*, which aired for four seasons and peaked at over 8 million viewers during its Sunday evening prime-time slot.
The Daily Telegraph likened Floyd’s lead role in Sally El Hosaini’s acclaimed film *My Brother the Devil* to Robert De Niro’s work, while Empire Magazine described him as “magnetic” and Timeout said he “must be on every director’s must-cast list.” Both the film and Floyd have received awards internationally, including at Sundance, Berlin, and the BFI London Film Festival.
His other prominent acting credits include lead roles in Oscar-nominated Paula Van Der Oest’s romance *Love in a Bottle* and IM Global’s spy thriller *Newcomer* alongside Golden Globe winner Anthony LaPaglia. He co-starred in BBC Film’s *City of Tiny Lights* with Billie Piper and Cush Jumbo, and in Pathé’s *Tormented* with Olly Alexander and Tuppence Middleton. On stage, he has appeared in acclaimed productions directed by Laurie Sansom and Anna Ziegler.
As a filmmaker, his 2024 movie *Unicorns* won both the Audience Award and the Jury Prize at the Dinard Film Festival. It received seven BIFA nominations, including two for Floyd himself: Best Debut Writer and Best Debut Director. The film premiered at TIFF to critical acclaim and was released in UK cinemas by Signature, as well as on Netflix in 2024. It is set for international release in 2025. *Unicorns* is a contemporary romantic drama produced by River Road (*12 Years A Slave*) and Maven Screen Media (*The Kids Are Alright*), with executive production by Stephen Daldry (*Billy Elliot*).
