Biografi
Jody Mortara is a ten-time award-winning filmmaker recognized at both domestic and international film festivals. She is an actress, producer, director, writer, and editor. Her latest comedy film, Cocoa—which she wrote, starred in, co-directed, co-edited, and produced—showcases the full range of her talents. Cocoa earned the Dove Seal of Approval, was featured on MovieGuide for family films, and received positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is available for streaming on Prime Video, Tubi, and The Faith Channel, under the family, comedies, and kids categories.
In 2025, Jody partnered with Madelynn Jones to launch AudioExcursions, an audiobook company that creates immersive cinematic experiences for listeners. Jody writes, produces, edits, and narrates the audiobooks, while Madelynn composes original music and scores. The attached excerpt is from their series Lost Legend of the Tude Shifters.
Throughout her career, Jody has acted in numerous films and television shows. For her role in Cocoa, she won Best Actress at the Cannes Arts Fest, along with honors for Best Comedy, Best Women’s Film, Best Family Picture, Best Independent Film (twice), and Awards of Merit for her script and contributions to women in film. Additionally, she appeared as Samantha Duncan in Vertical, which won Best International Feature Film at the London Independent Film Festival. Passionate about the special needs community, Jody created the TV show Needs to Bake, which follows four autistic young adults as they launch a baking business to support their band.
Jody is also a singer and composer who has collaborated with Freddie Ravel (musical director for Al Jarreau and George Benson), Randy Emata (music department for Becoming and Triple 9), and Julian Jackson (producer of The Button Band and Babyface).
She has played a key role in funding various projects, including feature films, television productions, and stage plays. Jody is also an experienced voice-over artist.
