Biografi
Bruce Kirkpatrick, an American actor with over forty years of experience in film, television, and stage, grew up in Parsippany, New Jersey. He has collaborated on numerous projects across these mediums with many leading industry figures. After graduating from Parsippany Hills High School, he pursued studies at Syracuse University, the University of Pittsburgh, LAMDA, and trained with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company in London. Throughout high school, college, and graduate studies, Bruce competed in rugby, wrestling, boxing, and racquetball, while also acting in plays and earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in acting.
Bruce's professional career began in Pittsburgh with his first film role in Flashdance (1983). Between then and 2000, he appeared in seven television movies, four TV series, and nine films, including The Dark Half (1993) with Timothy Hutton; Striking Distance (1993) and 12 Monkeys (1995) alongside Bruce Willis; Backstreet Justice (1994) starring Paul Sorvino; and McBain (1991) with Christopher Walken. A standout project during this period was the TV movie Against Her Will (1992), featuring Walter Matthau and Harry Morgan, after which Matthau became a lasting mentor to Bruce. His later work includes films such as xXx: State of the Union (2005), Little Children (2006), The Lovely Bones (2009), and appearances on TV series like The Sopranos, Royal Pains, and a recurring role as Roger Twigg on The Wire.
From 1991 to 2010, Bruce portrayed eleven different characters across the three main Law & Order series: Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and Law & Order: CI. Noteworthy roles include serial rapist Richard White in SVU’s Season 1 episode "Stalked" and Tom Harrigan in the Law & Order episode "Wannabe" (1993). He has also appeared in five major daytime soap operas, including a recurring role as Patrick Curry on All My Children.
Bruce holds a special affection for independent films; his role as Senior in Silent Sea Production’s 2013 film Blue Collar Boys earned him the Best Supporting Actor award at the London International Film-Maker Festival in 2016. More recent appearances include James Brannigan in the TV series Unforgettable (2014), American Fright Fest (2018), and the series Hunters (2020) starring Al Pacino.
His stage work is notable as well, including the Trevor Nunn-directed Broadway production Not About Nightingales, frequent regional theater performances, and numerous commercials. Additionally, Bruce has worked extensively as a stuntman and fight choreographer. His fight choreography for the Pittsburgh Public Theatre’s production of The Hairy Ape is archived in the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Theatre on Film and Tape Archive.
