Biografi
Jono Grant, a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, has developed a diverse body of audio work over the past 20 years, covering numerous genres and media formats.
He has composed music for over 300 episodes across various series such as "Undergrads" (Teletoon/MTV), "Radio Free Roscoe" (Family Channel), and "Captain Flamingo" (YTV), receiving a 2006 Gemini nomination for best original score in an animated series. Recently, Jono scored the Lifetime film "An Officer and a Murderer" and completed the second season of the preschool series "The Chica Show" for NBC Kids/PBS Sprout.
In his debut as a film composer, Jono earned a Genie nomination for best score for the feature "Jacob Two Two Meets the Hooded Fang." He subsequently contributed additional music to projects including the biopic "Trudeau" (CBC) and "Trump: The Unauthorized Biography" (ABC).
Jono primarily operates from his personal studio, Victory Drive Recording, located in Toronto's Leslieville. Victory Drive serves as a hub for performing artists and film and television producers, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a vast collection of eclectic and vintage instruments.
Among the artists who have recorded at Victory Drive is Toronto-based jazz composer and saxophonist Richard Underhill. Jono co-produced three of Underhill's albums, including the Juno Award-winning "Tales from the Blue Lounge." He has also collaborated with artists such as Kim Stockwood, Big Rude Jake, and The Tea Party in various roles.
From traditional tape-and-razor blade editing to the latest advancements in modern sound design, Jono is proficient in all aspects of music production.
Beginning his musical journey over two decades ago, Jono first gained recognition as a composer, producer, and performer with numerous bands including the quirky jazz/lounge group "Jaymz Bee and The Royal Jelly Orchestra," pop-poet John Southworth, and the eclectic bebop-rap group "The Shuffle Demons."
Jono studied composition, harmony, and music theory privately with teacher and music analyst Michael Leibson and is highly skilled in writing and arranging for diverse musical styles and ensembles.
