Ashley Shelton is an American actress, writer, director, and producer born on April 24 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from the University of Tennessee. Since December 12, 2012, she has been married to Linds Edwards. Shelton made her acting debut in the lead role of Margaret in the critically acclaimed film Something, Anything (2015 NYT Critics' Pick, The Dissolve's "Essential Viewing"). The film was showcased at international film festivals including Edinburgh, BAMcinemaFest, Sarasota, and Wisconsin before its commercial release in New York through IFP Screen Forward and on major digital platforms in the USA and UK via Sundance #ArtistServices and IFP. The New York Times praised her performance as "emotionally ambitious... lovely, low-key." She was also named Best Lead Actress in IndieWire's 2015 Year-End Critic's Poll. Since then, she has appeared in numerous films such as The Evening Hour (Sundance Film Festival, 2019), The Giant (Toronto International Film Festival, 2019), Wild Rose (Toronto International Film Festival, 2018), Sollers Point (San Sebastian International Film Festival, 2016), and War Pony (Cannes 2022, directed by Riley Keough and Gina Gammell). She also appears in Ethan Hawke's series The Good Lord Bird (Showtime). Her award-winning short film Magnolia & Clementine was among the select films featured in Amazon's 2019 All Voices Film Festival, which celebrated diversity behind the camera. Shelton is dedicated to telling stories through her personal human experience to foster deeper connections with people and the world around her.
