Robert "Bobby" Hyatt made his film debut at six months old when Cary Grant selected him from a group of babies at MGM. This marked the start of a 25-year acting career, providing him with extensive experience that paved the way for his transition into writing and directing. In 1978, Robert wrote and directed his first feature film, Every Girl Should Have One, starring Zsa Zsa Gabor, Robert Alda, and Alice Faye. He then signed with 20th Century-Fox/TV as a writer and associate producer to develop the movie-of-the-week, "Super 8." After a year at Fox/TV, he entered the music industry, spending the next decade touring the US and Europe as an artist manager and music publisher.
He co-produced, wrote, and directed the sci-fi thriller Alien Seed (1989), featuring Erik Estrada. Between 1991 and 1992 in New Zealand, he co-produced, wrote, and directed the cultural documentary The Maori Queen (1993). In 1993, he became the first American director to create a full-length feature with an all-Vietnamese cast and Vietnamese language, Lost Paradise (1993). This film aired as a mini-series on Hong Kong TV and was released as a feature film in Australia, France, Canada, and among Vietnamese communities in the US.
In 1995, On The Edge Productions hired him to write and develop the music-themed comedy Sex, Lies & Rock n Roll for production in the Caribbean. This project involved extensive research and location scouting in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, where he established numerous contacts for future ventures. In 1998, he produced, wrote, and directed Deadly Ransom, an action film starring Francesco Quinn and Brion James, filmed in Los Angeles and Puerto Rico. In 1999, he sold his seventh screenplay, Night of the Woman Child, to American Media Group. In 2001, he wrote and directed Dead Man's Run, starring John Savage, Joe Lara, and Trevor Goddard.
To date, Robert has written eight produced screenplays and directed seven of them, accumulating a lifetime of filmmaking experience. He currently serves as vice-president of acquisitions and production for The Director's Cut Video-On-Demand cable movie channel.
