Biografi
Vadim Medvedev, born Vladimir Aleksandrovich Medvedev on April 28, 1929, in Yalta, Crimea province, Ukraine, USSR (now Ukraine), graduated in 1949 from the Acting Studio of the Moscow Chamber Theatre, directed by Aleksandr Tairov.
Between 1952 and 1966, he was a permanent member of the Pushkin Drama Theatre troupe in St. Petersburg (Leningrad). There, he performed alongside notable actors such as Nikolay Cherkasov, Nikolai Simonov, Vasiliy Merkurev, Konstantin Skorobogatov, Yuriy Tolubeev, Aleksandr Borisov, Bruno Frejndlikh, Vladimir Chestnokov, Vladimir Erenberg, Konstantin Adashevsky, Leonid Vivyen, Olga Lebzak, Nina Mamaeva, Lidiya Shtykan, Nina Urgant, Valentina Panina, and other distinguished Russian performers. In 1954, he made his film debut in Iosif Kheifits’s A Big Family.
From 1966 to 1988, Medvedev was a permanent member of the renowned Bolshoi Drama Theatre (BDT) troupe in St. Petersburg (Leningrad), led by Georgi Tovstonogov. He collaborated with Tovstonogov for 22 years and worked with an exceptional ensemble of actors at BDT, including Oleg Basilashvili, Tatyana Doronina, Alisa Freyndlikh, Lyudmila Makarova, Svetlana Kryuchkova, Zinaida Sharko, Valentina Kovel, Innokentiy Smoktunovskiy, Sergey Yurskiy, Kirill Lavrov, Oleg Borisov, Vladislav Strzhelchik, Yefim Kopelyan, Evgeniy Lebedev, Vsevolod Kuznetsov, Pavel Luspekayev, Nikolay Trofimov, Georgiy Shtil, Leonid Nevedomsky, Yuriy Demich, Roman Gromadskiy, Gennadiy Bogachyov, Andrey Tolubeev, among many other prominent Russian actors.
Vadim Medvedev was honored with the title of People's Artist of Russia and received numerous awards and decorations for his stage and film work. His filmography includes over 30 roles, and he performed more than 80 roles on stage. He passed away on March 2, 1988, and was buried at Bolsheokhtinskoe Cemetery in St. Petersburg (Leningrad), Russia.
