British actor and award-winning voice artist, trained at the Webber Douglas Academy and Goldsmiths, University of London, and offered a scholarship to the Bristol Old Vic postgraduate course. He has worked across the UK, South Africa, and internationally. In the UK, he is best known for playing Eddie in the award-winning musical 'Blood Brothers' during the first UK National Tour and in London's West End, performing alongside David Cassidy, Stefan Dennis, and Helen Reddy, among others. In South Africa, he starred as Detective Gavin Archer in ETV's popular series "Gold Diggers" and has held significant leading roles in numerous South African TV series and soaps. He also appeared in the acclaimed Belgian series "Salamander" Season 2, acting in French. His international film credits include 'Doomsday', 'Amelia', 'Blood and Oil', 'Sinking of the Laconia', 'Mandela's Gun', 'Winnie', and the lead role in the action feature 'The Message'. He also acted in the sci-fi action film "Revolt" with Lee Pace and alongside Ben Schnetzer (Warcraft) in "The Journey is the Destination". He portrayed Major Hare in the BBC military drama 'Our Girl 2', directed by Jan Matthys.
Trained in Shotokan Karate, he competed in semi-contact tournaments in the UK at the Southern Regions and South London club levels. He has also trained with experts such as Vadim Dobrim in Systema (Russian martial arts and unarmed combat) and Gareth Hicks (Group 73) in police and military urban tactics and weapons handling for film. With over 30 years of experience, he has performed martial arts fights, unarmed combat, and weapon choreography involving swords, broadswords, and knives in film, TV, and theatre. He holds a handgun proficiency certificate and is a certified fight director.
His theatrical background includes improvisation and physical theatre training with the creators of "Theatre of L'Ange Fou" in Paris and participation in "Theatre Works," a musical improvisation group of West End performers, culminating in his role as narrator in Andrew Macbean's original West End musical production of Tom Waits' "Rain Dogs." He was part of Joe Parker's comedy improvisation team, leading workshops and performing in many shows alongside top South African comedians, also working as a stand-up comic. He has played title roles in Shakespeare productions such as "Much Ado About Nothing," "Romeo and Juliet," "The Taming of the Shrew," and "Hamlet," performing extensively in repertory theatre and UK tours. In South Africa, he portrayed Jake in the acclaimed two-hander comedy "Stones in His Pockets" and played the title role of Jerry in Pinter's "Betrayal" at the Sandton Theatre on the Square in Johannesburg.
With over 25 years as a versatile voice artist, he has voiced numerous award-winning campaigns for international and local brands, short and long-form animations, and records audiobooks for Amazon Audible from his home studio. He founded and managed a successful actor/voice agency, supporting and training local talent, and continues to teach voice, improv, and acting workshops. A published author and blogger, he writes about recovery from addiction and mental health. He was the resident writer for the ETV youth soap "Backstage" and contributed to the absurdist comedy series "On the Couch" for SABC. He wrote and produced "A Soldier's Story" for BBC Wales and the documentary "Making Movies" for Channel 4. As a writer/director, his upcoming projects include "The Pandora Effect" and "The Grid." Most recently, he is starring in the lead role of the forthcoming action film "Lost Horizon.
