John Miller-Monzon, known as JMM to insiders, is an experienced creative producer specializing in premium non-fiction film and TV for broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms. His work is story-driven, fact-based, and heavily focused on archival material.
In the documentary field, JMM's early significant projects included two Emmy-nominated miniseries: A Decade Under the Influence and Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues: A Musical Journey. His feature and television documentary credits feature Oscar winner The Cove, Indie Spirit Award winner Crazy Love, Peabody Award winner Black Magic, and the widely popular Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.
Other notable credits include Emmy winner Mission Blue, PGA Award nominee A Place at the Table, Imagen Award winner Viva Baseball!, FANGORIA Chainsaw nominee Amityville: An Origin Story, and the critically acclaimed Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened. Recent projects include the docu-series THE VOW Part Two for HBO, as well as documentaries Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive and Men of War.
JMM began his freelance producing career with Comedy Central's cult sitcom Strangers With Candy, starring Stephen Colbert and Amy Sedaris. His additional scripted comedy work includes IFC TV's The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman, featuring Laura Kightlinger and Nicholle Tom, and CMT's Still the King, starring Billy Ray Cyrus and Joey Lauren Adams.
As a development executive, JMM initially worked for Independent Film Channel and IFC Films, later returning to IFC TV as interim Director of Development. He then became Director of Development for News & Documentaries at Viacom's CMT network, where he launched the CMT Docs banner and executive produced acclaimed theatrical features such as The Bandit, Chicken People, and If I Leave Here Tomorrow: A Film About Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Additional executive producing credits include the reality series Gainesville, the docu-drama miniseries NASCAR: The Rise of American Speed, and TV documentaries Johnny Cash: American Rebel and Urban Cowboy: The Rise and Fall of Gilley's.
