At just 12 years old, Jackie Torres directed, wrote, and starred in her first theater play. By 16, she had appeared in over a dozen national commercials in Puerto Rico. Those close to her were not surprised when she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Theater from the University of Maryland, followed by a Master's Degree in Communications from the University of Puerto Rico, and completed the acting program at HB Studios in New York. She soon became the host of her first TV show, "TVS," on a local Puerto Rican cable station, gaining the exposure that led to her being hired by the leading TV network, Telemundo. At Telemundo, she produced hit shows such as "Marcano...El Show," "Con lo que Cuenta este País," "Pequeños...Grandes Lecciones," and "Videoteces," all ranking in the top ten, with the first two reaching number one. Later, Telemundo brought Jackie to Los Angeles to produce "La Hora Lunática," the first show to win its time slot over its main competitor. She soon expanded into film, starring in leading roles in Mexican movies like "El Güero Estrada," "La Paloma y el Gavilán," "Cuatro Meses de Libertad," and "Clave Secreta." Hollywood followed, where she appeared in several independent films including "The Price of the American Dream," which she also directed and co-wrote, "Perfect Assassins" alongside Robert Patrick, and "Miss Castaway" with Michael Jackson. On television, she appeared in NBC’s "ER" and CBS’s "The District." Her directing credits also include "East LA King" and "Crossing Frontiers," both films exploring Latino experiences in the United States.
