Biografi
His first expressions of artistry and self-expression emerged through drawing comic book and video game characters during his early elementary school years. As an active child, he pursued martial arts and break-dancing as hobbies throughout middle school in San Jose, California.
It wasn't until his freshman year at Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio, Texas, that he picked up the guitar for the first time. Fascinated by music, he began learning all styles of guitar and music in general. After graduating, Sean moved to Los Angeles to embark on the next phase of his life and pursue a career in the entertainment industry. With acting and modeling also in the mix, he joined the Orange County-based band "Burning Tree Project," touring the US and Canada for five years and gaining exposure on MTV.
During this period, Sean gained popularity for his theme song arrangements on the internet. Garnering over 5 million views during the early days of YouTube, he became one of the most recognizable internet personalities and was featured on numerous video sites and in web and magazine articles. He was named YouTube's "Artist of The Month" twice and has a large collection of entertaining musical videos on his channel, Shonsta.
While working on his own music and departing from Burning Tree Project, Sean began producing bands and artists in the LA area, which eventually led to film scoring. He later opened a post-audio studio in San Francisco, creating original music for commercials for clients such as Franklin Templeton Investments, the San Francisco Giants, Discovery Channel, NBC, Ubisoft, Nintendo, and many others.
Around this time, Sean took on the challenge of producing and directing a feature-length film titled "The Oatmeal Man." A humorous project that provided a valuable learning experience, he cast friends and family and leveraged favors to complete the film on a minimal budget.
After relocating back to the LA area, Sean opened his own post-production studio and began directing commercials. He won 1st and 7th place in The Philips Shaver Series/SpaceX commercial competition with two separate commercials. He has also received directorial awards for commercials for Red Robin, Kikkoman, Spy Gear, and Shell.
Seeking a break from the daily grind, Sean authored an Amazon #1 Best Seller called "Money 4 Music," a book that teaches how to earn five figures per song written and how to become a commercial composer.
In January 2015, Sean pursued a childhood dream by developing a video game called "Liquid Metal," a concept he had envisioned in 2012.
