Terry Jastrow has spent the past 30 years producing and directing some of the world’s most prestigious events. He is also a screenwriter, playwright, theatrical director, and acting teacher. Highlights of his career include: In film and television, Jastrow has won 7 Emmy Awards and received 17 nominations. Beginning his career at ABC Sports at age 21, he became the youngest network television sports producer by age 23, eventually serving as a producer and director there for 24 years. His credits include producing or directing Super Bowl XIX; 68 major golf championships such as the U.S. Open, British Open, and PGA Championship; the Indy 500; and ABC’s Wide World of Sports. He produced and directed six Olympic Games, including the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, as well as the 1972 Munich and 1976 Montreal Summer Olympics, and the 1980 Lake Placid, 1984 Sarajevo, and 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. Additionally, from 1974 to 1977, he produced many of Howard Cosell’s telecasts during the height of his career. As president of Jack Nicklaus Productions for 12 years, Jastrow revitalized Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf and created events such as Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge, The Diners Club Matches, Michael Douglas & Friends, and the Tommy Bahama Challenge. He also produced a series of video games in partnership with Accolade. He produced and directed golf instructional programs featuring Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, Curtis Strange, Tom Kite, Phil Mickelson, Tom Watson, and Butch Harmon. Jastrow produced ABC TV prime-time specials covering the renowned Haute Couture Paris Fashion Collections and the first English-language programs highlighting the Carnival in Rio for The Travel Channel. In feature films, he developed, produced, and starred in Waltz Across Texas alongside Anne Archer. He wrote Good Luck, Mr. Anthony, a feature film script currently in development at Beacon Pictures, and co-created, serves as commissioner, and executive produces The People’s Games, in development for ABC. He has also been nominated for the Directors Guild of America Lifetime Achievement Award. In theater, Jastrow studied acting for seven years with Lee Strasberg at the Theater Institute and The Actor’s Studio, and for 15 years with Milton Katselas at the Beverly Hills Playhouse, where he also taught acting for six years. He has performed in numerous feature films, television series episodes, and stage productions in both New York City and Los Angeles. His directing credits include the Los Angeles stage premiere of A Couple of White Chicks Sitting Around Talking, starring Anne Archer and Elizabeth Ashley; the world stage premiere of As If It Matters at the Beverly Hills Playhouse; The Vaginal Lock, produced by Camelot Productions at the Skylight Theater in Los Angeles; and Jane Fonda in the Court of Public Opinion, which premiered at the Edgemar Theater in Los Angeles in October 2012. Personally, Jastrow has been honored with the Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Award and is married to actress Anne Archer.
