Biografi
Paula, an acclaimed producer of Academy, Emmy, and ACE award-winning films, has extensive experience adapting literary works, transforming plays and books from stage and page into films.
She currently collaborates with US bookseller Mitchell Kaplan through The Mazur/Kaplan Company, where they specialize in bringing books to the screen. Their latest production is Let Him Go (2020), featuring Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, and Lesley Manville, written and directed by Thomas Bezucha, and released worldwide in theaters by Focus in Fall 2020. In February 2020, their film All the Bright Places (2020), starring Elle Fanning and Justice Smith and directed by Brett Haley, premiered on Netflix.
Other significant Mazur/Kaplan productions include The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018), directed by Mike Newell and starring Lily James and Michiel Huisman. This film was released worldwide in theaters by StudioCanal and later on Netflix in the US. They also produced The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017), starring Dan Stevens and Christopher Plummer, directed by Bharat Nalluri, and released by Bleecker Street.
Upcoming projects from Mazur/Kaplan include The Silent Wife, adapted by Billy Ray and starring Nicole Kidman; Pretend I'm Dead featuring Lola Kirke; Major Pettigrew's Last Stand, adapted by Jack Thorne; and Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter, directed by George Tillman.
Paula's earlier work includes producing and co-writing Nim's Island (2008), starring Jodie Foster, Gerard Butler, and Abigail Breslin; Corrina, Corrina (1994), featuring Whoopi Goldberg; and the Academy Award-winning short The Appointments of Dennis Jennings (1988). Her adaptations from stage to screen also include The Vagina Monologues (2002), The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe (1991), and Laurie Anderson's concert film Home of the Brave: A Film by Laurie Anderson (1986).
