Rex Smith has showcased his talents across all platforms, including Broadway, film, and television, and has also produced his own one-man show. He began his career as a teen idol with the platinum-selling hit album "You Take My Breath Away." His discography also features albums such as "Rex," "Where Do We Go From Here," "Sooner Or Later," "Forever," "Camouflage," and most recently, "Simply...Rex."
At the peak of his fame, Rex transitioned to Broadway, making his debut as Danny Zuko in the original production of "Grease." He earned the Theater World Award for his standout role as Frederick in "The Pirates of Penzance." His Broadway credits include leading roles in "Grand Hotel," "Sunset Boulevard," "The Scarlet Pimpernel," "Annie Get Your Gun," and "Kiss Me Kate." On television, he starred in the 1985 series "Street Hawk" and became widely recognized through his role on the CBS daytime drama "As the World Turns." He hosted three episodes of "Solid Gold" in 1980 and appeared in films such as "Once in a Lifetime" (1994), "A Passion to Kill" (1994), "Shades of Love: The Ballerina and the Blues" (1987), and "Perry Mason: The Case of the Silenced Singer" (1990).
In 2018, he portrayed Billy Mack, an aging rock star, in the world premiere of "Love Actually Live," a unique stage production performed live with an all-star cast and a 15-piece orchestra at The Wallis in Beverly Hills, California.
