Alesia Toyoko Glidewell, also known as Z, is a Los Angeles-based director of Japanese, Brazilian, and European heritage who grew up living in Saudi Arabia, Mexico City, Peru, Brazil, Hawaii, Boston, Florida, and other locations. She started her film career as a voice-over and motion capture artist, actor, and audio mixer. In Seattle, she began creating her own sci-fi and dramedy shorts, gaining attention from audiences and producers alike. At the same time, she earned a reputation as a passionate and effective producer and director of music videos, shorts, industrial videos, and commercials.
During a two-year tenure managing a branded content channel for Studio71, Glidewell transformed the New Media space, leading the channel to become the world’s #1 most organically viewed branded beauty channel with over 80 million views. Her creative strategy, execution, and ability to collaborate with top-tier influencers resulted in numerous successful original comedy series, both scripted and unscripted.
Glidewell is recognized for a cinematic style that serves the story and her commitment to uncovering the truth in every character and performance. Her efficiency in filming and versatility across genres come from her diverse industry experience as an unscripted, multicam director and showrunner in new media, a commercial and branded content director trusted by major brands such as Major League Baseball, AT&T, Honda, and Estée Lauder, as well as a development executive and freelance creative ideator.
