Terence Schreurs was born in the small village of Bovenkarspel. She is the daughter of Jacques Schreurs, a rock'n'roll band drummer and IBM businessman, and Tine Schreurs, a hair designer. Her mother, originally from the beautiful Indonesian island of Serua, lived in Merauke, New Guinea. After WWII and the Japanese occupation, her family fled to the Netherlands, where she worked hard to build a new life and career in a different culture. There, she met Jacques, and they fell in love and started a loving family.
Schreurs spent her early years in a small village near Amsterdam. Always drawn to storytelling and aspiring to be a dancer, she found the village too small and grew rebellious. At 15, she moved to the city and enrolled in an art school. Her parents supported her independence and encouraged her to pursue her dreams. She loved drama classes and began considering a career as an actress. She took additional courses at various Dutch theater schools and institutes, including Theater School Amsterdam (AHK), Academy of Performative Arts Maastricht, and ArteZ in Arnhem. She managed cooking, grocery shopping, and assisted prominent actors and filmmakers to learn about acting, screenwriting, and the industry. From 2003 to 2013, she trained with renowned coaches such as Mark W. Travis (LA), Judith Weston (LA), Hetty MacDonalds (UK), and Rutger Hauer (LA/NL). Amsterdam served as her home and creative base as an actress.
Terence Schreurs has an extensive theatre background throughout the Netherlands. She made her television debut in 2003 on the popular crime series Baantjer. Soon after, she secured more TV and film roles in productions like Costa! (2001), All Stars, Spangen, Intensive Care, De Band, and Annie MG. She became a well-known actress in the Netherlands, starring in two feature films by 2008: De Punt by Hanro Smitsman, about a train hijacking by Moluccan freedom fighters, and Ver Van Familie by Marion Bloem, which follows a young woman leaving the US to find her dying grandmother and uncover the truth about her father.
Her subsequent work included significant roles in high-profile productions such as Van God Los, Zusjes, De Verbouwing, and Cornea. In 2015, she starred in Kristen, a Dutch-English thriller by Mark Weistra that traveled worldwide, earning both the film and Terence multiple awards.
About ten years ago, she began working as an acting coach. Having studied under Mark Travis and taught at various theater and acting schools, she developed her own method focused on discovering the psychological core of stories and characters—becoming the character from this core rather than merely "acting" it. In 2015, she founded her own school, the Wolf'Qademy. She gained recognition as an acting coach, directing and coaching actors on productions like De Boskampi's, Baantjer het Begin, and Mocro Maffia. Recently, she contributed to the film Pantser, which won Best Short at the Dutch Academy Awards, and the successful WWII Netflix international co-production The Forgotten Battle, which was Netflix's most-watched feature film globally in Autumn 2021 and garnered awards worldwide.
