Born in San Diego and raised as a Navy brat with a talent for entertaining, actor Patricia "Patti" French spent her childhood in California, Florida, and various places across the oceans. Coming from a deeply musical family that infused music into every event and gathering, Patti was raised on Rock 'n' Roll, The Beatles, Barbara Streisand, and Frank Sinatra. Her love for music and dance led her to join the Glee Club and take dance classes at a young age, but she launched her acting career in theatre and also worked as a voice-over artist after pausing college. Later, she attended the National Shakespeare Conservatory in New York and continues to enjoy performing in plays.
Patti is drawn to challenging, dark characters as well as wild, comedic roles, both of which are evident in her work. She co-stars in the hit film POMS as the spirited Phyllis, one of the Poms cheerleaders, sharing the screen with Diane Keaton (a major inspiration to Patti), Jacki Weaver, Pam Grier, Rhea Perlman, and the rest of the cast. Phyllis is feisty, courageous, loves dancing and laughter, and embodies a true team player. After experiencing the dynamic power and fun of collaborating with women both in front of and behind the camera, Patti is eager to work with renowned female directors like Sofia Coppola, Greta Gerwig, and Nancy Meyers.
Alongside POMS, Patti plays Doris in the feature Stuber, an action-comedy starring Kumail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista, set to premiere in July. She also has a recurring role on Hulu's acclaimed series The Act, based on a true story, portraying Tina, a hotel desk clerk who aids the police in investigating the murder of Gypsy Rose's (Joey King) mother, played by Patricia Arquette.
Patti appeared for three seasons on Lifetime's award-winning Army Wives as Betty, the tough-but-kind owner of the Hump Bar. Her character, after surviving a bombing of her bar, ultimately succumbs to breast cancer, leaving viewers with an iconic image of her driving into the California sunset in a pink Mustang convertible.
Her voice can be heard as Lil in Squidbillies on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. Film and TV credits include Last Dance, Life As You Know It, My Fake Fiance, Hall Pass, Three Stooges, Wanderlust, The Change-Up, Parental Guidance, The Watch, Let's Be Cops, Trouble With the Curve, and the first season of the award-winning HBO series True Detective. She also appeared as Ms. Sourpuss in Dumb and Dumber To, enjoying the experience of working again with the Farrelly brothers, Jim Carrey, and Jeff Daniels. Recently, Patricia featured in Bobcat Goldthwait's Misfits and Monsters, Halt and Catch Fire, and The Resident.
Having worked with talents like Clint Eastwood, Bette Midler, Billy Crystal, the SNL ensemble, Cary Fukunaga, and Sharon Stone, Patti aspires to collaborate with the best in the industry, including Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Jeff Bridges, David Matthew Weiner, Chuck Lorre, the Coen Brothers, Amy Sherman-Palladino, and David E. Kelley. Her favorite shows currently include The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Kominsky Method, Barry, Big Little Lies, and Billions.
In her spare time, Patti enjoys swimming, dancing, and cooking, and supports various causes from Alzheimer's research to animal rights. She is represented by People Store in Atlanta and New Orleans, and CMA Entertainment in Los Angeles and New York.
