Romulus Hotea is a Romanian born, UK based actor, filmmaker, writer, and producer whose work bridges performance driven cinema with psychologically complex storytelling. With a background that spans acting, stunt performance, and film development, Hotea has built a career rooted in physical discipline, emotional intensity, and author led creation. He first gained national recognition in Romania with his role as Marco Negulescu in the television series Iubire si Secrete (Love and Secrets), broadcast on National TV, which established him as a prominent emerging screen presence. His stage work includes a notable debut performance at Barons Court Theatre (London) in MoonChild by Nina Tolstoy, where he portrayed three distinct characters within a single production, an early indication of his interest in fractured psychology and transformation. His reputation for precision, fearlessness, and physical commitment led to sustained work across action heavy features and television, laying the foundation for his later transition into lead dramatic roles. Parallel to his performance career, Hotea pursued formal training in Film & Screen Business at MetFilm School, based at historic Ealing Studios, deepening his expertise in directing, producing, and screenwriting. This evolution culminated in URA, a psychological crime thriller in which he serves as writer, lead actor, producer and director. The project, currently in post production, reflects his long standing interest in power, identity fracture, and the intersection between mental illness and authority. Fluent in Romanian, English, and Italian, Hotea is known for his transformative physicality and distinctive husky vocal quality, developed following a near total vocal loss in 2023 and subsequent rehabilitation, an experience that further informs his psychologically demanding performances.
