Prasanta Sutradhar is an Indian Actor , Alumni of National School Of Drama . He acted in Indian cinema and theatre & also directed several theatre production nationally and internationally . A theatre professional, started his journey with the guidance of the renowned mime artist, late Sankar Datta Gupta. He moved to Kolkata from Coochbehar in 2013 to pursue a career in theatre and performing arts. He was trained under Sangeet Natak Academy Award winner Prabir Guha and traveled around the globe with his group 'Alternative Living Theatre' as an actor and background music designer. Prasanta is a graduate in linguistics, majoring in Sanskrit from North Bengal University and Post Graduate in Drama Studies from Rabindra Bharati University. His desire to learn took him further to National School of Drama to carry on with a residential training in theatre and performing arts. In his capacity as an actor and a background music designer, Prasanta has worked with acclaimed directors and productions throughout the globe. After returning to his hometown, Prasanta established 'Project Actor Lab' in 2019. It's a non-commercial acting coaching center and theatre group. His productions include XYZ, Gombhir Pala (Based on Bengali Folk Theatre- Gombhira), Saat Safai Gaanwala (Street Drama), The Statue (A Children's Play), Jungal Katha (A Children's Play), Nakshi Kanthar Math, Macbeth X (Interpretation of Shakesperean Play Macbeth), The Scared Chamber (the story of sanitary labours), and Shamukh (the story of an oppressed layperson). He has been awarded ample number of times at state and national levels. These plays are scripted, directed and designed by Prasanta himself. He even created the music scores used in these plays. Besides his theatre group, Prasanta even works as a freelancer as a guest director for several theatre groups. Notable among these are Article 25, Aajo Bhabche Balmiki, Tar Naari O Nagini, Padmavatir Akkhyan (traditional mythological folk), and Mashan (Mythological Folk Tale of North Bengal's Rajbangshi Adibasi Community). His solo performance 'XYZ' has been carried out in more than 500 shows in India as per last year's record. From the last two years, Prasanta has been working as an actor in the Indian Film and Television Industry. Notable projects include Tarulotar Bhoot (Bengali Feature Film), Main Lallu Singh (Hindi Feature Film), L.S.C (A Nationally and Internationally Recognized Film), Jogakhichuri (Bengali Feature Film),Suyopoka (Bengali Feature Film), Paakhi (Bengali Feature Film), Bansara (Bengali Feature Film) In the last few years, Prasanta has been providing training in Acting & theatre workshops in different parts of the country. He is even an established successful acting coach. In many private and government institutes, Prasanta is involved as a guest professor enlightening acting students with his acting skills and techniques. He is presently researching on a particular method of acting called 'Body Moz-Art' (which is still in process).
