Travis Brorsen is one of America’s most in-demand dog trainers. He is the Founder and CEO of Greatest American Dog Trainers and serves as Animal Planet’s pet expert and trainer, hosting the new series My Big Fat Pet Makeover. Raised on a farm and ranch in Oklahoma, Travis has been surrounded by animals of all sizes his entire life. Despite this, he initially chose a career in entertainment over agriculture and moved to Los Angeles after college. There, he appeared in over 20 national commercials and guest-starred on popular shows including Desperate Housewives, JAG, Bones, and Drop Dead Diva.
In 2008, Travis and his 14-month-old energetic, untrained boxer, Presley, competed on CBS’s national dog training competition, Greatest American Dog. Though producers and Vegas odds gave them little chance to advance beyond the first week, Travis and Presley persevered through 12 weeks of intense competition and ultimately won the entire contest. This experience ignited Travis’s passion for helping dogs and their owners build positive learning and relationships. Over the next five years, he developed a thriving dog training business in Los Angeles.
After relocating to New York City in 2012 to marry his partner Heather, Travis founded Greatest American Dog Trainers. He can often be seen working closely with a Park Avenue dog in Manhattan. Travis was nominated for TV’s Best Dynamic Duo at the Fox Reality Awards and frequently appears on TV and radio programs such as Rachael Ray, Fox and Friends, Animal Planet’s Faithful Friends, National Geographic’s Brain Games, and E!. He has also contributed to numerous magazines and websites, including Good Housekeeping, Life and Dog Magazine, Boxers Magazine, Dogster, The Dogington Post, and Hollywood Life.
