Taryn Southern is a digital creator, writer, producer, director, and songwriter with over 500 million views on her online videos. In 2018, she produced the world's first pop album created using artificial intelligence (I AM AI) and developed a Streamy-nominated immersive virtual reality series for Google/YouTube VR. Her directorial debut, I AM HUMAN, premiered at The Tribeca Film Festival in May 2019.
Taryn began her career on American Idol before securing guest roles on television shows such as Rules of Engagement (CBS), New Girl (NBC), Legit (F/X), and Guys with Kids (CBS). She also wrote comedy for digital platforms like Heavy.com and MovieTickets.com, as well as television projects including "Private High Musical" for MTV. As a frequent TV host, she served as a correspondent for Discovery Channel's highest-rated late-night series in 2013/2014 (Shark After Dark/Naked After Dark), NBC’s The X Factor, and hosted and produced AT&T U-Verse’s Project MyWorld for DirecTV. She has also worked as a correspondent for VH1, G4, MTV, and others.
In 2012, Taryn launched a YouTube channel that amassed over 500,000 subscribers by 2014, along with her digital production company, Happy Cat Media. Through her channel, she returned to comedy and music, achieving a US radio chart hit with her comedy song "Crush" and hosting her own countdown show on Sirius XM Radio. Happy Cat Media specialized in producing high-quality influencer content for brands and distributors such as Marriott, MovieTickets.com, Conde Nast, Snapchat, Vimeo, HTC Vive, and more. In 2017, she was highlighted as one of three women leaders in media for Ford’s national "She’s Got Drive" campaign and was recognized as one of the Top 20 Women in VR.
