Larry F. Houston is an Emmy-nominated Producer and Director best known for THE X-MEN animated series, the groundbreaking 90s show that broadened Marvel's mutant franchise into a global, multi-billion dollar phenomenon.
As the first African-American Saturday Morning Storyboard Artist hired by Filmation Studios, Larry contributed to beloved 80s and 90s classics including Thundarr, Spiderman and His Amazing Friends, ExoSquad, Transformers, Spawn, Mr. T, Batman, Real Ghostbusters, Conan, Swamp Thing, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mighty Orbots, Bionic Six, Visionaries, Hulk, and Defenders of the Earth.
He also directed episodes of Captain Planet, GI Joe, the second season of Fantastic Four, The Karate Kid, Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, RoboCop Alpha Commando, Kid N Play, CBS Saturday Morning's The Care Bears, and three Care Bears movies. Larry wrote episodes such as "Swarm" from Spiderman and His Amazing Friends and "Hearts and Cannons" for the 80s GI Joe syndicated series.
Larry illustrated the iconic openings for the X-Men TV show and the inspiring GI Joe movie intro, as well as the intros for The Karate Kid and the Community TV show’s GI Jeff episode.
He directed the first two animated appearances of Black Panther—initially in the 90s X-MEN series and later in the fully animated episode "Prey of the Black Panther" from the second season of Fantastic Four.
Larry enriched the He-Man Mini-Comics universe by introducing and designing a wider range of multicultural heroes and villains within the He-Man mythology. He also penciled a Tank story for DNAgents and a Flare story for Heroic Publishing. He is currently developing new stories for his super-heroines, The Vanguards, his creator-owned series first published by Charlton Bullseye, along with fresh creations for today’s market.
