Kinda Alloush is a Syrian actress based in Cairo who began her career starring in popular Syrian dramas that gained widespread success across the Arab world. Her talent and determination later helped her break into the Egyptian TV and film industry, establishing her as a prominent figure throughout the Arab region. She has worked with acclaimed directors such as Chaouki Mejeri, Haitham Hakki, Sherif Arafa, Hatem Ali, Khaled Marei, Mohamed Yassin, and Marwan Hamed.
Kinda graduated from the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts in Damascus, where she studied Theater Criticism. She also pursued French literature and briefly worked as an assistant director in theater before transitioning to acting in 2005. Her debut was in the TV drama "Ashwak Naeema" (2005), followed by "Shaghaf" and "Alzahir Bybrs." In 2006, she starred in the TV series "Ahkad Khafeya," and in 2007, she appeared in several series including "Fajr Akhar," "Sultana," "Zel Amra'a," "Hassiba," "Hokm Al Adala," "Gonon El Asr," and "Al Aijtiah," a series about the 2002 Israeli invasion of Palestinian cities and villages. Directed by Chaouki Mejeri, it won an Emmy Award, marking the first Arab work to receive this honor.
In 2007, Kinda ventured into film with "Hadetha A'la Tareeq" by Syrian director Rasha Sharbatgy, followed by "Halawet Rouh" by Laila Awad and "Altajlia A'akheer Li Ghylan Aldamashqi" by Haitham Hakki in 2008. In 2009, she starred in "Mara Okhra" by writer-director Joud Said. That same year, she appeared in the Egyptian TV hit "Hedou' Nesbi" by the late Tunisian director Chaouki Mejeri alongside many Arab TV stars, and in the Egyptian blockbuster "Welad El-Amm" by Sherif Arafa.
Her extensive TV credits include "Ahl Cairo" (2010), which earned her the Murex D'Or Award for Best Actress. She also maintained her presence in Syrian drama with roles in "Al A'shk El Haram" (2010) and the two-part series "Wilada Min Alkhasira." In 2012, Kinda relocated to Egypt and starred in notable series including Khaled Marei's "Niran Sadeeka" (2013), for which she won the Excellence Award at Oscar ART in 2013, "Al Ahd (El Kalam El Mobah)" (2015), "A'd Tanazoly" (2014), Mohamed Yassin's "Afrah Al Qoba" (2016), and the 2017 series "Hagar Gohanam" and "Ahl Al Gharam."
Her filmography features numerous box office successes such as "Al-Maslahah" (2012) by Sandra Nashaat and "Hepta: The Last Lecture" (2016), the highest-grossing romantic film in Egyptian cinema history. Other notable films include "Wahid Saheeh" (2011) directed by Hady Al Bagouri, where she portrayed a Christian girl in a challenging love story; the social comedy "Excuse My French" (2014) by Amr Salama, which explores religious differences; and the fantasy film "The Originals" (2017) by Marwan Hamed. She also appeared in films like "Brtita," "Al-Fgomi" (2011), and "33 Youm" (2013).
In 2020, Kinda starred in the TV series "Dai El Amar," which addressed artificial insemination—a first for Arab television. The series aired on DMC and Watch It and was part of six stories featured in the anthology "Ella Ana." In 2021, she appeared in the Shahid original series "Sittat Bayt Al Maadi," directed by Mohamed Salama and written by Mohamed Ezzat. This Arabic adaptation of the US series "Why Women Kill" starred Kinda alongside Injy El Mokkaddem, Tara Emad, Sabry Fawaz, Enjy Kiwan, Mirhan Hussein, and Ahmed Wafik.
In 2022, Kinda starred in "Nezouh," directed by Syrian filmmaker Soudade Kaadan. The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, winning the Audience Award, and competed at the second Red Sea International Film Festival. Featuring a cast including Samer al Masri, Hala Zein, and Darina Al Joundi, the film explores the Syrian war and was shot by renowned cinematographer Hélène Louvart. Later that year, Kinda appeared in Netflix's "The Swimmers," which became a hit, topping Netflix's Top 10 movies in several Arab countries such as Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait, Morocco, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. It also ranked first in Germany and placed highly in Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands. "The Swimmers" had its world premiere at the Cairo International Film Festival, opened the 47th Toronto International Film Festival, and screened at festivals including BFI London, Marrakesh International, and Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival. The film, written and directed by Sally El Husseiny, tells the true story of Syrian refugee sisters Yusra and Sara Mardini, who reached the Olympics. It was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film of the Year.
Kinda's upcoming projects include "Yellow Bus," a co-production between the USA, Mexico, India, Jordan, and the UAE. The film has completed production and will premiere exclusively on the OSN Network as one of its originals, following theatrical and international festival screenings. "Yellow Bus" addresses themes such as motherhood, identity, social alienation, and loss through a dramatic narrative reflecting Arab and global communities. The story is inspired by the tragic incident of a six-year-old girl who died of heat exhaustion after falling asleep on a school bus unnoticed. The cast includes Kinda Alloush, Bollywood star Tannishtha Chatterjee—winner of multiple Best Actress awards including the British Independent Film Awards for "Brick Lane"—and Bollywood actor Amit Sial, known for the Emmy-nominated series "Inside Edge."
Beyond acting, Kinda has worked as an assistant director on notable projects like Haval Amin's film "The Nativity" and Nabil al-Maleh's "Hunting Party." She directed the documentary "Fi Mahab Al-Rih," highlighting the struggles of Syrian workers in Lebanon, and assisted in directing the documentary series "Ighraa," about the Syrian star Ighraa.
Kinda has served as a jury member at various international film festivals, including the 32nd and 39th Cairo International Film Festival (2012, 2017), Tropfest Arabia Short Film Festival (2012), Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries (2013), Freedom Films competition at Luxor African Film Festival (2018), and the Short Film Competition at El Gouna Film Festival (2020).
On the humanitarian front, Kinda is actively involved in initiatives supporting refugees worldwide, especially Syrians. Her commitment extends beyond moral support to participating in field activities and visiting refugee camps, earning her a place on the High Profile Supporters list by the UN Refugee Agency.
