He later joined KPTV in Portland, Oregon, before relocating to Fort Myers, Florida, to direct and edit documentaries and commercials at Dreamtime Entertainment.
In 2007, Matt moved to Los Angeles to serve as art director for the startup distribution company Unistar. Drawing on his extensive experience, Matt collaborated with longtime friend Julia Verdin to co-author "Success in Film," a guide aimed at helping producers navigate the complexities of filmmaking.
During 2015 and 2016, Matt served as an adjunct professor at Columbia College Hollywood, teaching editing and production. In 2018, he expanded his company to include a distribution division representing a variety of documentaries, feature films, and TV series in the global market.
