Kurt David Anderson grew up in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. He began his acting career by performing at major theaters in Minneapolis and St. Paul, including the renowned Guthrie Theatre. His breakthrough came in 2000 when he portrayed "Linus" in a critically praised production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. The four-month sold-out run established Kurt as a sought-after actor in Minnesota.
Despite his local success, Kurt relocated to Los Angeles in 2001. Even as he prepared to move, opportunities continued, such as a national Best Buy commercial and a supporting role in the Tim Allen film Joe Somebody.
After arriving in Los Angeles, Anderson quickly landed roles in Disturbia alongside Shia LaBeouf, Live Free or Die Hard, and lead roles in Should (which he also produced), Spill, Enlighten, and the award-winning film Hot Java. He is best recognized as "Tator Junior" on Comedy Central's cult hit Reno 911 and has appeared on HBO's Big Love, FX’s Sons of Anarchy, ABC’s Castle and Ugly Betty, WB’s Gilmore Girls, CW’s Veronica Mars, and Disney’s The Suite Life. His commercial work includes a memorable Nestle Dibs advertisement.
As a member of Parson's Nose Productions, Kurt has helped bring classical theater to elementary schools across Los Angeles and Pasadena. He also served on the Board of Directors for Theatre Neo, based in Los Angeles.
Through his production company, Punching Bees Productions, Kurt has earned acclaim for developing and completing projects. He produced the 2009 feature Near Fall, the short film Should, a pilot for Scott Sedita's Comedy Competition, and plays like Looking for Normal. In 2008, he and his partners were invited to speak at the Tribeca Film Festival about Near Fall and their innovative use of camera technology.
An accomplished vocalist, Kurt co-founded the professional a cappella group Cantus and toured with them for four years. During that time, the group recorded three critically acclaimed albums and toured extensively throughout the central and eastern United States.
He earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music and Theatre from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and studied at Stuart Rogers Studios in Los Angeles.
