Biografia
Anthony Meindl is an acclaimed director, writer, actor, and acting coach.
His script for the upcoming feature film "The Wonder Girls" won the Grand Prize in the Slamdance Film Festival Screenplay Competition, was a semifinalist at the Vail Film Festival Screenplay Competition, and ranked in the top 10% of entries in the prestigious Nicholl Fellowship.
Anthony wrote and directed "Where We Go From Here," which premiered at Outfest 2019 at the iconic Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The film earned Best Screenplay at Q-Films Long Beach, the Jury Award at NYC's East Village Queer Film Festival, and was acquired by HULU.
His recent feature "Sum of Us," starring Brianne Howey ("Ginny & Georgia") and Isidora Goreshter ("Shameless"), won Best Screenplay at the Picasso Einstein Buddha International Film Festival following its premiere at the Downtown LA Film Festival. Simultaneously, his short film "Is This You, Too?" screened at over a dozen film festivals, winning Best Director and twice Best Short Film.
His debut feature, "Birds of a Feather," garnered multiple honors including Best Director from both the DTLA Film Festival and the Golden Door International Film Festival, the Audience Choice Award at the Northeast Film Festival, and the Special Jury Award at the Honolulu Rainbow Festival. His first short film, "Ready? OK!," was sold to MTV's LOGO Network as part of their "Best in Short Film" series.
His directing success stems partly from extensive experience coaching Hollywood's emerging talent. He is the founder of Anthony Meindl's Actor Workshop, now in its 24th year with nine global locations. His students include two-time Golden Globe nominee Shailene Woodley, Oscar winner Trevante Rhodes ("Moonlight"), Marvel favorite Pom Klementieff, Netflix's "Bridgerton" star Phoebe Dynevor, pop icon and "Cinderella" lead Camila Cabello, among hundreds more.
Anthony has guest taught directing at David Lynch's Master of Filmmaking Program and appeared in Netflix's "Travels With My Father."
He has authored four books: the best-selling creativity guide "At Left Brain Turn Right," the self-improvement title "Alphabet Soup for Grown-Ups," the acting manual "Book the F#©king Job!," and his latest memoir, "You Knew When You Were 2.
