Biografia
Simon Fields, an award-winning producer with extensive experience across various content platforms, served as President of Nuyorican Productions from 2003 to March 2013, working alongside Jennifer Lopez. Their partnership at the Los Angeles-based film and television company originated from their successful collaboration on the film "Shall We Dance," which earned over $200 million globally.
A London native, Fields was educated at Stowe School. After graduating, he advanced through the ranks of television commercial production in London, eventually becoming Production Manager at the Moving Picture Company. In 1980, he joined Jon Roseman Productions as a producer and relocated to Los Angeles within a year to lead its U.S. division.
In 1981, Fields co-founded Limelight, a production company specializing in music videos, commercials, and feature films, with offices in Los Angeles and London. As President and CEO, alongside Co-President Steve Barron, he expanded the company to annual revenues exceeding $150 million. He managed an award-winning television commercial division with clients such as Calvin Klein, Nike, and Budweiser, and produced the successful feature film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Under his leadership, Limelight became a pioneer in music video production, earning numerous accolades for innovative projects with artists including Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Peter Gabriel, A-ha, and David Bowie.
Later in his tenure at Limelight, Fields partnered with director Peter Chelsom to develop and produce feature films. Their collaborations included the romantic comedy "Hear My Song," Buena Vista’s "Funny Bones" starring Oliver Platt and Jerry Lewis (which won Fields and Chelsom the London Critics Circle film award for British Producer of the Year), "Serendipity" featuring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale, and Miramax’s hit romantic comedy "Shall We Dance," starring Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, and Jennifer Lopez.
Through Nuyorican Productions, Fields produced numerous feature films and executive produced various television projects. His credits include the crime drama "Bordertown" starring Jennifer Lopez and Antonio Banderas, Picture House’s "El Cantante," the biopic of salsa legend Hector Lavoe starring Lopez and Marc Anthony, and Sony Pictures’ "Feel the Noise," a drama set in New York and Puerto Rico. The company also produced "Dancelife," a dance competition reality show for MTV, and "South Beach," a drama series about a young man’s coming-of-age experiences. Fields developed and executive produced the ABC Family scripted series "The Fosters," which premiered in June 2013. Alongside a robust development slate of scripted projects for Fox, ABC, and CBS, Nuyorican also grew its non-scripted and reality division under Fields’ leadership and produced the third season of "South Beach Tow."
Currently, under his new production company Fields Entertainment, he is producing the second season of "The Carbonaro Effect" for TruTV and is in pre-production on the feature film "Blowback," in partnership with Shine Pictures.
