Jon Kilik is a prominent independent producer recognized for his collaborations with visionary directors and films that explore profound human experiences and social themes. He has worked with renowned filmmakers such as Spike Lee, Julian Schnabel, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Bennett Miller, Jim Jarmusch, Sean Penn, Robert De Niro, and Oliver Stone. Kilik also produced the first four installments of "The Hunger Games" series.
He has produced 16 films with Spike Lee, including the groundbreaking and Oscar®-nominated "Do The Right Thing," "Malcolm X," "Clockers," "He Got Game," "25th Hour," and "Da 5 Bloods." Kilik developed and produced all of Julian Schnabel’s films, including Schnabel’s debut "Basquiat," the Oscar®-nominated "Before Night Falls," the rock documentary "Lou Reed’s Berlin," the Oscar®-nominated and Golden Globe-winning "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly," and the Oscar®-nominated "At Eternity’s Gate." His collaboration with Alejandro González Iñárritu began with "Babel," earning him a Best Picture Oscar® nomination and a Golden Globe for Best Dramatic Film. They reunited for "Biutiful," which was Oscar®-nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. Other significant films produced by Kilik include Bennett Miller’s "Foxcatcher," Jim Jarmusch’s "Broken Flowers," Oliver Stone’s "Alexander," Gary Ross’ "Pleasantville," Tim Robbins’ "Dead Man Walking," and Robert De Niro’s "A Bronx Tale." Most recently, Kilik was Executive Producer of "The Voice of Hind Rajab," marking his 12th film to receive at least one Academy Award® nomination.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, Jon was raised in Millburn, New Jersey. He graduated from the University of Vermont’s creative writing and filmmaking program before moving to New York City, where he launched his film career and has remained an influential figure in the city’s film community. Kilik delivered an inspiring keynote address on the future of the film industry at the 2013 IFP Film Market at Lincoln Center. He has also received honorary doctorates and gave commencement speeches at the University of Vermont (2003) and Monmouth University (2013).
