Raised in rural Newfoundland, Canada, Shaun Majumder has been a performer his entire life. At thirteen, he moved from his hometown of Burlington (population 350) to Mississauga, Ontario, where he acted in his first stage play in eighth grade. Instantly captivated, he continued in theatre throughout high school, earning several awards at festivals for his performances. Despite his passion, adults around him doubted a future in acting. Following their advice, Shaun enrolled in university like many others, hoping a career would find him.
After a year of partying and taking general arts courses, Shaun realized acting was his true passion and decided to pursue it wholeheartedly.
He found early success as a stand-up comedian and host, landing his first gigs with YTV (Canada's Nickelodeon) as a host/PJ for five years, as well as appearances on CBC's Just For Laughs comedy series. He secured small film and TV roles and, in 2003, joined the cast of CBC's This Hour Has 22 Minutes, where he stayed for seventeen seasons.
Over the past twenty-plus years, Shaun has achieved success in both Canada and the U.S. Notable roles include Detective Vik Mahajan in ABC's acclaimed crime drama Detroit 1-8-7, Andrew Palmer on NBC's The Firm alongside Josh Lucas and Juliette Lewis, and Hassan Numair on FOX's 24. His comedy credits include starring in the sketch series Cedric The Entertainer Presents, The Farrelly Brothers' Unhitched, ABC's Married Not Dead, NBC's Nevermind Nirvana, and CBC's Hatching Matching and Dispatching.
Currently, he stars as Father Khatri alongside Harold Perrineau, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Eion Bailey in the EPIX sci-fi/horror series FROM.
Shaun lives in Los Angeles with his wife Shelby Fenner, their daughters Mattis Maple and Eslyn Willow, and their two Boston terriers, Jazzy and Freddy.
