The entertainment industry is undergoing monumental changes, yet visionary Jeff Clanagan has consistently stayed ahead of the curve for more than twenty years. As President and CEO of Codeblack Enterprises, Clanagan continues to break new ground by producing and distributing content that challenges traditional norms, driving market expansion into areas once considered untapped. In 2011, the independent hit film "Kevin Hart: Laugh at My Pain" employed Clanagan's distinctive targeted marketing strategies and achieved an average of $20,000 per theater—a remarkable feat for an independently produced and distributed movie. The film set a record as the highest-grossing concert series since "Martin Lawrence: Runteldat" in 2002, surpassing the $5 million milestone. Soon after, Clanagan embarked on a pioneering partnership with Lionsgate, bringing his expertise in feature films, television programming, comedy specials, and digital content to this collaboration.
Founded in 2005 by Clanagan, Codeblack Enterprises offers clients a comprehensive range of services covering the entire production and branding process—from conceptualization to execution. By housing all operations under one innovative roof, Clanagan enables clients to fully realize their creative visions and deliver compelling content across both emerging and traditional entertainment platforms. Recognized as one of Black Enterprise Magazine's Top 50 Hollywood Power Brokers and listed in Ebony Magazine's Power 150, Jeff Clanagan has overseen the release of nearly 200 DVDs, generating over $150 million in revenue.
Before this, as President and CEO of UrbanWorks Entertainment, Clanagan crafted and executed the company's strategic direction, positioning UrbanWorks as a leading distributor in the home entertainment sector by the time of his departure.
Clanagan began his career in the entertainment world as a concert promoter for pioneering artists including Run DMC, LL Cool J, The Isley Brothers, MC Hammer, and Luther Vandross. Transitioning from backstage to leadership roles, his first major position was as President of Master P's influential No Limit Films. There, he produced hit films such as Foolish and Lockdown and helped grow the company into a $40 million powerhouse in the urban home video market.
Later, Clanagan was recruited by Peter Guber’s Mandalay Sports & Entertainment to serve as President of Mandalay Urban Entertainment. Under his leadership, Mandalay earned critical acclaim for award-winning films like Civil Brand, which received honors at prominent international festivals including the American Black Film Festival, Urban World Film Festival, and Pan-African Film Festival.
Currently, Jeff Clanagan is enrolled in the prestigious Executive Management program at Harvard Business School. His achievements have been featured in major publications such as The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, GQ Magazine, and VIBE Magazine.
