Mike Messier is an 86-time award-winning producer, screenwriter, director, TV host, and actor. He is also a playwright, acting coach, live event host, visual artist, and guest speaker. He authored the novels A Distance from Avalon - When the Dying and the Dead Reunite and Fight or Play Basketball, both adapted into feature film screenplays.
His other works include Bad Girls with Good Tattoos, the graphic novel Wrestling with Sanity, and Art and War of Directing Student, Low & No Budget Movies: A Primer for Creating and Participating in Independent Films, Television & Web Series.
As an actor, Mike has appeared alongside Meryl Streep and Elisabeth Shue in Hope Springs; Mario Van Peebles, Wesley Snipes, and Cybill Shepherd (playing her son) in Hard Luck; and Frances McDormand and Richard Jenkins in Olive Kitteridge. In 2017, Mike founded the Avalonia Festival of Short Films and oversees its annual live events and website. He also launched the Avalonia Photography Competition, All Comedy Short Film Festival, and All Horror Short Film Festival. Mike was heavily involved in the 2017 Play in a Day series in Natick, Massachusetts, where three of his scripts—The Impeccable, So, You're the Guy?, and Dalmation—were turned into short films he directed. Between 2015 and 2019, he hosted and produced the interview show Messier Mantra and the six-part Messier Peace Theater on Seekonk TV 9 in Massachusetts.
Together with frequent collaborator Tim Labonte, Mike completed the silent short film Disregard, featuring a musical score by Tony Caramadre. Shortly after, the trio created Many Keys - The Heartbreak Monologue, based on Messier’s novel, screenplay, and stage play A Distance from Avalon. Both films premiered at the Austin Revolution Film Festival. Mike earned Best Screenwriter at the San Angelo Revolution Film Festival for his prison drama script Also Ran.
MIKE MESSIER ART has become a significant passion, gaining a growing audience on TikTok and Instagram. The short film The Art of Mike Messier won Best Documentary at the Couch Film Festival and Best Art Film at the Alternative Film Festival in 2025.
Mike continues to showcase his extensive body of work while pursuing new opportunities as a screenwriter, actor, and artist.
