However, when Southern California faces severe weather, Kriski’s expertise and deep knowledge truly stand out, earning him top recognition in his field. With 8 Emmy Awards for his coverage of events like the Malibu fires and the Northridge earthquake, Mark is one of Los Angeles’ most beloved weathermen.
Originally from Montreal, Canada, Kriski studied radio and television arts at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. Although passionate about television, he first built his career in radio, performing commercial voice-overs, working as a disc jockey, and eventually becoming a promotion director. An experienced broadcaster ready to chase his dreams, Mark landed his first on-camera role as a weathercaster on Canada’s Weather Channel.
When "KTLA Morning News" offered him a position, Kriski embraced the opportunity to work in Los Angeles, attracted by the city’s dynamic audience. Viewers connected with his distinctive style, and the L.A. Times named him the Funniest Weatherman in Los Angeles. His dedication earned him 3 Golden Mike Awards for Best Weather Segment from the Radio & Television News Association.
In addition to his full-time role on "KTLA Morning News," Mark has appeared as a newscaster in over 10 major Hollywood films and contributed segments to Business World News. Grateful for his success and committed to giving back, Kriski actively supports community and charitable organizations, including the Union Rescue Mission and The Fire Fighters Association. He also participates in charity golf tournaments, Hollywood Stars Baseball Games, and has twice served as Grand Marshal for Veterans Day and Christmas parades, receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from the City of Los Angeles.
Mark Kriski resides in the San Fernando Valley and enjoys scuba diving, motorcycle riding, horseback riding, tennis, skiing, and ice hockey.
