Biografia
Alfonso Quijada is a film director, writer and producer from Vancouver/British Colombia. His films have been officially selected to 65 film festivals around the world, including: The American Film Institute Silver, Chicago International Film Festival, 62nd Cartagena International Film Festival, New York Latino Film Festival, Festival of New Latin American Cinema (Havana), Hof International Film Festival (Germany), icaro International Film Festival (Guatemala), Chichester International Film Festival (UK), Innsbruck International Film Festival (Austria), Whistler Film Festival (Canada) and Panama International Film Festival.
In the last three decades he has worked in more than 80 film and TV projects. He is also an award winning actor, with more than 50 film and TV credits in the USA and Canada.
He has produced 9 full length feature films: "Fabula" (shot entirely on location in Havana/Cuba), "Black Box" (shot in LA and Vancouver), "Malacrianza" ("The Crows' Nest") shot in El Salvador and post production in Mexico City, "La Palabra de Pablo" ("Pablo's Word"), also shot in El Salvador and post production took place in Bogota/Colombia: HBO bought the rights for the USA and Sony Pictures acquired the Latin American rights, and "The Colony Vol I" an American film shot in Central America.
He is the director, co-writer and producer of "10 - 11" starring Paz Vega, Carlos Bardem, Manuel Caponi - shooting in Spain and Antigua/Guatemala.
He is the director, writer and producer of "El Suspiro del Silencio" (The Whisper of Silence), shot in El Salvador and post production in Bogota/Colombia: VIX + Amazon USA/Latam, and AppleTV (UK) distribution.
He is also the writer/director and producer of "Tomorrow Before After" a post-apocalyptic movie - starring Natalia Reyes, shot in Bogota/Colombia, with producing partners Apollo Pictures (USA) and 64A Films (Colombia). The film was shot completely in two languages, English and Spanish, the Spanish title is "Mañana Antes Después". The film was official Selection and Special Presentation of the 62nd Cartagena International Film Festival and it was the winner of Best Production, Best Art Design and 8 nominations at the 26th Icaro International Film Festival of Central America in 2023. Tomorrow Before After is available in USA/Canada on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video, In Latin America is available in AppleTV and in Mexico in Amazon Prime and AppleTV.
He was one of the writers of the TV series "Duality" (in development) Televisa USA.
Currently in post production with the documentary "Seeds of Hope" - he is the senior producer.
As well, he has produced/written and executive produced several short films and proof of concepts (Random Walk/Somnolence/SH).
His production company Sivela Pictures is in development with the films: "TBA: Daya". "The Ungrateful Garden" - "Near and Far From You" - "The Brief Age of Time" - "Embracing The Sun" and "Infamy" .
