Janelle Christa is a multi-award-winning American actress, director, screenwriter, and producer. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, she later relocated to Hollywood.
Starting her career at age 9 with an appearance on the popular TV show "Touched by an Angel," Janelle has worked on thousands of sets. She has collaborated with major stars such as P!nk, Ellen, Oprah, and Alan Thicke, and has presented awards at film festivals to Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Over 30 years, her experience spans commercials (including a Super Bowl commercial), movies, television series, reality shows, short films, independent films, and extensive modeling work for major brands like Stanley, Covergirl, Revlon, and Pixi Beauty Cosmetics.
In acting, Janelle earned her first Best Actress Award at FIFF London, Best Supporting Actress at the Sho Low Film Festival, and Best Cast at the Indie Short Fest.
Her directorial debut, "Transcendent," premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard during the Golden State Festival. She has since won numerous accolades including Best Female Director at the Future of Film Festival, Best First-Time Director at the IndieX Festival, Vesuvius International Film Festival, Indie Short Fest, and NYC Best Actor and Director Awards. Additional honors include Best Director of an Experimental Film at NYC Best Actor and Director Awards and nominations for Best First-Time Director at TMFF and Best Female Director at the LA Independent Women Film Awards.
Her films have received Best Picture awards such as Best Drama at FIFF London, Best of Festival and Best Short Film at Flow Film Festival, and Best Experimental Film at IndieX, Indie Short Fest, and Independent Short Awards. She also won Best Short Film at the Vesuvius International Film Festival.
As a writer, Janelle has been recognized with Best Original Screenplay awards at IndieX Film Festival and Indie Short Fest, an Honorable Mention at the Santa Barbara International Screenplay Awards, Best Original Story at the Independent Short Awards, and was a finalist at the Nashville Film Festival.
Her producing work has earned Best Producer awards at IndieX Fest and Indie Short Fest.
Additional honors include Awards of Excellence at IndieX Fest, Indie Short Fest, and Independent Shorts Festival (Top Short of the Season), as well as Best Wardrobe at the Monza International Film Festival and IndieX Fest.
Demonstrating her talent for assembling skilled and committed teams, her projects have garnered multiple awards: five Best Editing, four Best Makeup and Hair, three Best Producer, two Best Cast, and two Best Actor awards. They have also received nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Sound Editing, Best Original Score, and Best Music.
