Robert DiTillio launched his acting career in New York City, performing in off-off Broadway productions, notably two rarely staged plays by Joyce Carol Oates. In New York, he also worked on independent films, soap operas, and numerous music videos. In Hollywood, he has guest-starred on TV shows such as Babylon 5, Sliders, Profiler, General Hospital, NYPD Blue, and others. He won a prize on America's Funniest People for a sketch he co-wrote. His stage work in Los Angeles includes portraying Sal Carducci in the critically praised hit Kold Radio, Whitefish Bay (also known as Crappie Talk), and performing with his improv troupe Are You Talkin' Ta Me? at The Comedy Store. Passionate about improv comedy, he regularly collaborates with Rogue Improv and Community Improv. He has also performed with the socially conscious sketch group Laughtivism at iO West.
Over the years, Robert has appeared in various feature films, including playing Demetrius in a punk rock/goth adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream directed by horror novelist S.P. Somtow. Other significant film credits include Dragon Fighter alongside Dean Cain (available on Amazon Prime), the mad doctor thriller The Straun House (also known as Dr. Rage) featuring Karen Black, the romantic comedy The Olivia Experiment, and the remake Night Of The Living Dead 3D.
Online, Robert has featured in several web series and earned a Best Actor nomination in a Comedy Web Series for The Rose Chronicles at the 2010 StayTunedTV Awards. He also appeared on the Amazon Prime cop comedy The Heat Of The Beat as a tough attorney and on the Facebook Original series Turnt portraying a teacher. Between 2020 and 2021, he performed live online in numerous shows of Tom Cavanaugh's award-winning Zoom thriller Now, Now, Now...
Notable short films featuring Robert include Tip Toe, which screened at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival; Attack Of The Film Festivals, which won Best Short Film Comedy at the 2015 Burbank International Film Festival; and the multiple award-winning 2016 short Happy Hour, showcasing his romantic side. His latest short film, Moving Violation, is set to premiere in July 2022 at the LA Shorts Festival.
The Book Club, a short comedy produced by and starring Robert and Christine DiTillio, who also wrote the screenplay, is currently on the festival circuit. Robert's short horror script Easy To Scare won the 2019 We Make Movies Short Film Challenge. He directed and produced the film alongside Christine, who stars as Janet. Easy To Scare is now in post-production.
