Amanda LaCount is a renowned professional hip hop dancer, choreographer, actress, singer, model, and influencer. She began dancing at the age of two and grew up with six older siblings. While living in Colorado, Amanda was a competitive figure skater who qualified for Nationals and was also part of four National Champion all-star cheerleading teams. She pursued competitive dance and studied as a Dance Major at Denver School of the Arts from sixth to ninth grade. During her time in Colorado, Amanda appeared in numerous professional musical productions, including Annie, The Sound of Music, The Wiz, Cheaper By The Dozen, Scrooge, Carousel, Fiddler on the Roof, Aladdin, Brigadoon, Alice in Wonderland, Jungle Book, Bye Bye Birdie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Polar Express, performing at regional dinner and community theatres in Colorado and Wyoming, as well as touring nationally with The Wizard of Oz. Amanda also enjoyed horseback riding.
In 2015, Amanda relocated from Colorado to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of becoming a professional dancer and actress. She graduated with honors from The Dance Academy at Champs Charter High School of Performing Arts. Despite her career in the arts, Amanda attended traditional schools throughout her education rather than being homeschooled. During the COVID-19 quarantine, she remained active by working towards her BFA in Dance Performance and is set to graduate in Spring 2022 from St. Mary's College of California.
Amanda’s notable performances include appearing in Rihanna's "Savage X Fenty" Show at New York Fashion Week, now streaming on Amazon Prime; dancing at Coachella with Lizzo; performing with Meghan Trainor at the Radio Disney Music Awards; dancing alongside Kelsea Ballerini at the People's Choice Awards; appearing on The Ellen Show with Keala Settle from The Greatest Showman; dancing with the cast of Disney's Descendants 2 on Dancing with the Stars; performing on two episodes of The Voice; featuring in Lady Gaga's "Stupid Love" music video; appearing in Katy Perry's "Swish Swish" music video featuring Nicki Minaj; performing with the WNBA LA Sparks Crew for two years; and leading her own national dance tour, "Amanda LaCount Live." She also traveled to Paris to star in the music video "Comme Une Reine" for Madame Monsieur. Amanda is a member of Brian Friedman's Entourage, attending "The Main Event" in both 2018 and 2019. She performed and taught at Move It in London, the world's largest dance event, as a Team Capezio Ambassador, and sailed on the 2018 and 2019 Zumba Cruises to the Bahamas as a Social Media Influencer. Additionally, she taught and featured in the final show at Zincon 2018 and participated again in 2019, an annual Zumba Convention for certified instructors held in Orlando, Florida. Most recently, Amanda competed on Season 15 of America's Got Talent.
Amanda has appeared on the covers of Dance Spirit Magazine (November 2018), Curvicality Magazine (September 2019), and A Round of Applause Magazine (October 2018). She has been featured in Dance Magazine (January 21, 2020), People.com (July 9, 2020), FabUplus Magazine (September 2017), Tiger Beat (Winter 2019), where she was named one of "6 dancers we can't stop watching," and Germany's InStyle Magazine (August 2021). She is honored to have been part of Dove's global "#showus" campaign in advertisements and commercials; American Eagle Outfitters' worldwide "Young Money" curvy jeans campaign; JCPenney’s "Here I Am: Plus Size Athletes Fit At Any Size" campaign; Athleta’s "Power of She" campaign; and various Nike campaigns.
Amanda trains at Millennium Dance Complex Los Angeles and Playground LA. She teaches intermediate to advanced Jazz Funk weekly at Eighty-Eight Studios (formerly Movement Lifestyle) and serves as a guest instructor at SnowGlobe Perspective.
She created the movement #breakingthestereotype™ to promote body positivity and challenge the notion that dancers must be tall, thin, and blonde. Her philosophy is simple: "If you love it, do it." Amanda advocates strongly for body positivity and was a guest speaker and performer at "Beautiful U," sponsored by Wood TV and the United Dairy Industry of Michigan in 2019. She participated on the "Werk the Skin You're In: Body Positivity" panel and performed at the 2019 RuPaul's DragCon in Los Angeles, attended the 2019 Count Me In Global Leadership Summit in Toronto, and spoke and performed at the 2019 National Best Buddies Leadership Conference in Bloomington, Indiana.
In 2019, Amanda portrayed Mermaid Alana, one of Ariel's sisters, in ABC's "The Little Mermaid Live." Her other acting roles include Jenny in the film "Ali's Realm" directed by Mario Torres (known for "The Shape of Water"), a member of Abby's Girls in "Fat Camp" on BET, appearances in seven episodes of "School of Rock" as a dancer and student, two episodes of "Drama Club" as a dancer, roles on "Alexa and Katie" as a dancer and student, as well as dancer roles in "ROAR," and co-starring parts on "Splitting Up Together," "Good Girls," and "Euphoria." Amanda also featured as an inclusive dancer in the Netflix movie "The Prom," starring Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman.
Amanda looks forward to what the future holds as she continues her mission to promote confidence and body positivity. One of her goals is to become the role model she never had growing up.
