Biografia
Growing up in Arkansas as a Canadian, coupled with summers spent in rural Ireland with grandparents and extended family, Daniel has always been captivated by out-of-place characters, distinctive settings, and the unique, beautiful rhythms of human conversation. As a writer and director, he delves into these themes across various genres, consistently focusing on human struggles, complex characters, and the hope and humor they uncover even in the darkest moments. Recently, he directed the true-story feature film "Miss Virginia," starring Emmy-winner Uzo Aduba, Matthew Modine, and Vanessa Williams. The film was recognized as a New York Times and USA Today Must-See Fall Movie, won the Audience Award at The Naples Film Festival, and enjoyed a limited theatrical release, a cable premiere on BET, and a streaming deal with Netflix. Daniel was also a finalist for The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Nicholl Fellowship for Screenwriting and won awards in the Slamdance, ScriptPipeline, and Screencraft competitions for his social-issue horror script "They Live on Skid Row," which tells the story of a teenage girl’s battle with homelessness through a thrilling zombie narrative. Beyond writing and directing, Daniel is an accomplished editor with ten feature films to his credit, including the horror film "What Lies Below," which quickly rose to #1 on Netflix, and the upcoming storm-chasing movie "Supercell," starring Alec Baldwin. He aims to continue crafting cinematic, character-driven stories well beyond the age most would consider retiring.
