Biografia
Richard Dempsey trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His recent roles include Frank in *Dr Strangelove* (West End), performances in Sondheim's *Old Friends* (West End), Paul Crouch in *Tammy Faye* (Almeida), and Hopkins in *Made in Dagenham* in concert (West End). Richard featured in the original West End productions of *Into The Woods* (Jack), *Fame* (Nick), and *Dirty Dancing* (Neil). He also played Mr. Bucket in *Charlie and The Chocolate Factory* (West End), Quince in Michael Grandage's *A Midsummer Night's Dream* (West End), and Don Quixote (RSC/West End).
Other theatre credits include *A Midsummer Night's Dream* (Titania), *The Winter's Tale* (Hermione), *Henry V* (Propeller/Hampstead), and *The Merchant of Venice* (BAM, New York). He portrayed Ugly in *Honk!* (NT Tour), and appeared in *Burn, Citizenship* for the National Theatre. Additional roles include *Just So*, *Out of This World*, and *Damsels in Distress* at the Chichester Festival Theatre, and *Strictly Ballroom* (WYP/Toronto). He also performed in *Victor/Victoria* (Southwark Playhouse), *The Cocktail Party* (Coronet), *Home Chat* (Finborough), and *Rothschild & Sons* (Park Theatre) in London.
His television and film credits include *My Policeman*, *1917*, *Genius*, *Casualty*, *Doctor Who*, *Downton Abbey*, *Doc Martin*, *Island at War*, *Crime Traveller*, *Sherlock Holmes*, and *The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe* (BBC/Peter).
