Dr. Kristina Acosta is an integrative mental health doctor, educator, and thought leader known for her work bridging neuroscience, somatic psychology, and spiritual healing. She is the co-owner of McCloud Acosta Clinical Services (MACS), a group practice based in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, where she specializes in trauma-informed care and nervous system regulation.
Dr. Acosta’s work is rooted in the understanding that the human body is inherently adaptive, and that healing occurs when safety is restored to the nervous system. She integrates evidence-based approaches-including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic therapies, and polyvagal informed care with complementary modalities such as energy psychology and mind-body practices.
She is the creator of The Acosta Method(TM), a nervous system mapping framework designed to help individuals understand their adaptive patterns, regulate their physiology, and restore internal balance through personalized pathways. Her work emphasizes non-pathologizing, strengths-based approaches to mental health and human behavior.
In addition to her clinical and teaching work, Dr. Acosta has been featured as an expert in the docuseries How the Body Heals Itself, where she shares her perspective on the mind-body connection and the body’s innate capacity for healing.
Dr. Acosta is also the founder of several integrative healing initiatives, including The Joy Code(TM) and The Conscious Parenting Path(TM), all of which focus on restoring wholeness through the integration of science, embodiment, and spiritual awareness.
Through her writing, teaching, and clinical leadership, Dr. Acosta continues to contribute to a growing movement that redefines healing as a process of reconnection to the body, to self, and to the deeper intelligence within.
