Biografia
Madhoo was born into the Malini family on March 26th. Her father, Raghunath, is the uncle of Bollywood actress Hema Malini, and her mother’s name was Renuka. Renuka taught Madhoo Bharat Natyam. Tragically, Madhoo lost her mother to cancer when she was only 13 years old.
Inspired by her cousin as a role model, Madhoo aspired to become an actress. After being offered a minor role, she enrolled in Roshan Taneja's School of Acting for two months but later found out she had been dropped abruptly.
This setback motivated her to take up jogging and swimming to lose weight, get braces for her teeth, cut her hair, undergo a complete makeover including skin care, and perfect her Hindi. As a result, a new, confident, and glamorous Madhoo emerged.
An Aries, Madhoo began her acting career with the Malayalam film Ottayal Pattalam. She made her Bollywood debut with Phool Aur Kaante. Her role in the 1992 Tamil movie Roja brought her instant fame, leading to the film being dubbed into several languages. Some of her other notable films include Diljale, Yeshwant, and Pehchaan.
Her acting career spanned from 1990 to 2002, during which she appeared in around 30 films across Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu languages.
Madhoo was initially signed by Kallol Sen for his film Love Sex Etc but later opted out. She also appeared in the Sony Television series Mann Main Hai Vishwas.
She married Anand Shah, a member of a wealthy industrialist family, and moved to the U.S., where she gave birth to two daughters, Amela and Kela. Amela has already expressed interest in pursuing a career in acting.
