Laya Deleon Hayes currently stars alongside Queen Latifah on CBS's "The Equalizer" and is widely recognized for voicing the lead character in the BAFTA, Emmy®, and Peabody Award-nominated animated series "Doc McStuffins," a role that earned her a NAACP Image Award nomination. At just 9 years old, Hayes made history as the first Black animated character on Disney Junior.
Her television work also includes roles in "Just Add Magic," "Liv & Maddie," and "Raven's Home," along with guest appearances on "Cougar Town," "Grey's Anatomy," "Quantico," and "Code Black."
Hayes has built a thriving voiceover career with parts in "Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny," "Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie," and most recently, as the voice of Iron Maiden in the popular video game series League of Legends.
Her upcoming projects feature a lead role in "The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster" and a starring role as Hany, the youngest sister in a family of newly freed slaves, in the independent film "40," opposite Imani Hakim.
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and raised in Grand Prairie, Texas, Hayes developed her passion for performing through school plays and talent shows. She trained at the Hart and Soul studio in Dallas before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue acting professionally.
An advocate for equal rights and social justice, Hayes uses her social media platforms to raise awareness and encourage meaningful conversations. She is especially dedicated to women's rights, body positivity, and equality for all.
Hayes has volunteered at Indianapolis Children's Hospital by reading to children and has assisted in feeding the homeless at the Los Angeles Mission. She has participated in anti-bullying initiatives such as Say-NO Bullying and Free2Luv and walked the runway at the Grace Rose Foundation’s annual fashion show to raise awareness for Cystic Fibrosis.
In her free time, Hayes enjoys rollerblading, baking with friends and family, fashion, singing, traveling, and sketching. She has a love for theater, movies, and creating films and videos, with aspirations to develop, write, direct, and produce her own projects in the future.
