Drikus Volschenk is a leading South African actor with experience in over 70 film, television, and theatre productions both locally and internationally. He has appeared in numerous award-winning projects alongside renowned actors such as Idris Elba and Naomie Harris in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (20th Century Fox, 2013); Beauty (2011), the Queer Palm Award winner at Cannes Film Festival and South Africa's entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 84th Academy Awards; and Durban Poison (2013), which took the Best South African Feature Film award at the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF).
His notable roles include Dis ek, Anna (2015), which won six South African Film & Television Awards (SAFTAs), and the international series Madiba (2017), where he acted alongside Laurence Fishburne and Michael Nyqvist, broadcast by Black Entertainment Television (BET) in the USA. He also appeared in the American blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Warner Bros, 2016), and starred with Sophie Okonedo and Sam Neill in Skin (BBC Films, 2008), a biopic that garnered 19 international awards.
An expert in both theatre and film, Drikus also teaches Film and Television and is regarded as one of Africa's leading screen acting coaches. He led the Screen Acting Department at AFDA in Johannesburg for several years, an institution recognized with numerous local and international honors, including a student film Oscar (2013) and multiple Academy Award nominations.
In 2018, he featured in the critically acclaimed dystopian science fiction film Maze Runner: The Death Cure (20th Century Fox), starring alongside Dylan O’Brien and Rosa Salazar. The film received nominations for several awards, including the BreakTudo Awards (BTDAs) and Teen Choice Awards.
Most recently, Drikus starred as one of the leads in the remake of the iconic South African film Fiela's Child, which won the SAFTA for Best Feature Film in 2019. He currently serves as Head of the EbonyLife Creative Academy in Lagos, Nigeria, founded by Mo Abudu, where he also leads the screen acting department.
