Tim O'Keefe is a New York City-based creative specializing in scoring and audio artistry. He has composed music for a range of feature films, documentaries, film installations, and branded content. Notable projects include As I Lay Dying (directed by James Franco), State of Surveillance (VICE on HBO), Raw Craft with Anthony Bourdain, Tales of Our Times (Guggenheim Museum), and Ai Weiwei Introduces "Turn It On_ China on Film."
His agency work features scoring commercials for brands such as Ferrari, Gucci, Nike, and NARS. Films he has scored have premiered at prestigious venues including Cannes, Venice, Sundance, Gagosian Gallery, PACE Gallery, MoMA, and MOCA. Beyond scoring, Tim has collaborated as a writer and producer with a diverse array of artists, including electronic music pioneer Hans-Joachim Roedelius (Cluster), Motown legend Smokey Robinson, and Andy Rourke, bassist of the iconic UK band The Smiths.
Tim’s creative pursuits encompass various mediums including music, sound design, podcasts, film, and code-driven interactive art. He focuses particularly on socially impactful projects that intersect art, politics, and technology. He earned his MFA in Digital + Media from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2012. Additionally, he has edited several music videos that premiered in outlets such as Rolling Stone, VICE, Interview Magazine, and Paper Magazine, including REM’s "That Someone Is You," directed by James Franco.
