Natasha Bassett was born in Sydney, New South Wales. At 14, she attended her first audition and secured the lead role in the Australian Theatre for Young People's production of "Romeo and Juliet." She then pursued studies, writing, and performing at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, which led to her performing under Cate Blanchett's artistic direction in Sydney Theatre Company's production of "Bookends."
Natasha starred in the MTV film Dungoona (2009) and appeared in several Australian TV series such as Rake (2010), Wild Boys (2011), and Cops LAC (2010) while continuing her education. After finishing high school, she featured in P.J. Hogan's film Mental (2012) with Toni Collette and Liev Schreiber and traveled to Paris to play the lead in the feature film The Last Goodbye (2013).
At 19, she received a screenwriting scholarship from the ArtStart Screenwriters Program, where she wrote and directed the short film Kite (2013). The film was showcased at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Balinale International Film Festival, and Big Bear Lake International Film Festival.
Natasha moved to New York City to study at the Atlantic Acting School before relocating to Los Angeles for the NBC series Camp (2013). Soon after, she appeared in the WBTV sitcom No Place Like Home and made a memorable debut as 1950s starlet Gloria DeLamour in The Coen Brothers' Hail, Caesar! alongside George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, and Channing Tatum.
She continued to secure several film roles in the U.S., starring in thrillers such as House By The Lake, The Pale Door, and Desolate Spinning Man opposite Guy Pearce, Pierce Brosnan, and Minnie Driver, as well as the indie drama Katie Says Goodbye with Mary Steenburgen. Her recent work includes the comedy film Spy Intervention, the ABC series Operation Buffalo, and the upcoming 12 Mighty Orphans featuring Luke Wilson, Martin Sheen, and Robert Duvall. In 2017, Bassett portrayed Britney Spears in the Lifetime biopic Britney Ever After.
Bassett appears as Dixie Locke, Elvis Presley's first girlfriend, in Baz Luhrmann's Elvis, starring alongside Austin Butler and Tom Hanks. To promote the film, she walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2022, where the movie received a 10-minute standing ovation.
She played the lead role in the romantic comedy Don't You Be My Neighbor! opposite Abhay Deol, with the release date to be announced.
Currently, Natasha is pursuing a physics degree through Harvard's Online Program. She is fluent in French and has earned the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award for her survival expeditions and community service across Australia.
