Biografia
Blerim Gjoci is an award-winning actor, screenwriter, director, and producer whose career began in the theaters and film sets of war-torn Kosovo. His early rise came through Moti Pa Ton (Soundless Weather), a comedy series inspired by the work of Monty Python, which helped establish him as a bold creative voice in a country rebuilding itself through art.
After the war, Blerim appeared in several international productions, including Guerreros in 2001, produced by Warner Sogecine; Tout Un Hiver Sans Feu, Switzerland's official entry for the Academy Awards; and Time of the Comet, among others. During this period, he wrote, produced, directed, or contributed to nearly one hundred films, helping shape a new generation of post-war Balkan cinema.
Following the attacks of September 11, Blerim founded a film festival dedicated to the victims of 9/11, curating and supporting filmmakers whose work carried a message of resilience, proving that creation can be the answer to destruction. One of the short films he curated and produced went on to win at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012.
In 2014, Blerim left behind an established creative legacy in Europe and moved to Los Angeles to pursue his MFA at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He later founded SCA Group, his Los Angeles-based production company, where he is works on a slate of feature films and documentaries, including Sunny Hill, an epic war drama; Of the Chosen, a mystery thriller; Got Beef, a hip-hop comedy; and Star Maker, a science-fiction trilogy.
Blerim is the recipient of numerous international awards and recognition, including honors from Sundance, the Italian Movie Awards, TIFF, and Best Director at the Venice Shorts Film Festival. His work combines the emotional weight of lived history with the ambition of global cinema, driven by stories of survival, identity, memory, and transformation. He lives in Los Angeles, California.
