BAFTA-winning Scottish director Jon S. Baird has worked with industry icons such as Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Sir Mick Jagger, and numerous Academy Award-winning actors.
Baird’s second feature film, Filth (2013), which he wrote, produced, and directed, featured James McAvoy in a career-defining role. Filth received five BIFA nominations and three BAFTA Scotland nominations.
In 2015, HBO invited Baird to direct the Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger-produced series Vinyl. Since then, Baird has been mentored by Martin Scorsese and developed a close friendship with him over the past decade.
In 2017, he directed Stan & Ollie, a multi-BAFTA and Golden Globe-nominated film about comedy legends Laurel and Hardy, starring Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly. Baird won the BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Director for this work.
In 2020, he directed the critically acclaimed Apple film Tetris, starring Taron Egerton, and in 2022, he directed Matthew Macfadyen in Stonehouse, a three-part drama for ITV and BritBox.
His most recent film, Everything’s Going To Be Great, produced by Lionsgate, stars Bryan Cranston, Allison Janney, and Chris Cooper.
Baird’s upcoming project is a TV series remake of Cape Fear for Apple, starring Javier Bardem and Amy Adams, produced by Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese.
